At Arlington Street United Methodist Church, lay leadership is not simply helpful. It is vital. Especially in this season of renewal and revitalization, the future of our church will be shaped by faithful people who are willing to step forward, share their gifts, and serve with open hearts.

Many of our members have walked with Christ for decades. They carry deep wisdom, lived experience, and a quiet strength that cannot be manufactured. That legacy matters. Lay leaders at ASUMC are not just filling positions on committees. They are safeguarding the story of this congregation while helping write its next chapter.

In the United Methodist tradition, we believe in the ministry of all believers. That means leadership is shared. Decisions are collaborative. Worship, outreach, hospitality, prayer, and stewardship are not the work of one person. They are the work of the whole body. When lay members serve as liturgists, trustees, finance leaders, outreach volunteers, or prayer partners, they are embodying discipleship in action.

As we look ahead, revitalization will not come from programs alone. It will come from people. It will come from individuals who say, “I may not be able to do everything, but I can do something.” It will come from those willing to offer time, talent, encouragement, and presence.

At ASUMC, we believe God is not finished with this church. And the path forward will be built by faithful lay leaders who love this congregation enough to invest in its future. Together, clergy and laity will listen for where the Spirit is leading and step forward in hope.
