The Church is not bound by walls, time, or even earthly life. It is a living fellowship of believers across all generations and places, a great communion that unites us with every follower of Christ, both those who walk beside us today and those who have already entered into God’s eternal presence. This shared faith reminds us that we are never alone, for we are surrounded by “a great cloud of witnesses” (Hebrews 12:1) who encourage, inspire, and strengthen us as we continue our journey of discipleship.

We give thanks for the saints who have gone before us, including family members, friends, mentors, and fellow church members whose lives testified to the grace of God. Their faith shaped our faith, their service built the ministries we now carry forward, and their love reminds us of the eternal bond we share in Christ. Remembering them is not only an act of gratitude but also a declaration of hope. Death does not have the final word, and one day we will be reunited in God’s everlasting kingdom.

Each year, on All Saints Sunday, the first Sunday in November, our congregation gathers to honor and celebrate these beloved ones. In this sacred service we light candles for those who have passed into glory, speak aloud their names in a roll call of remembrance, and lift our voices in songs of faith and resurrection. This is a holy time of both tears and joy, grieving our loss while also rejoicing in the promise of eternal life.

Through these acts of remembrance we are reminded that the Church is not just the people we see today but an ever-expanding family of faith that includes all believers everywhere and for all time. In honoring the saints, we recommit ourselves to carrying the light of Christ forward, trusting that future generations will one day give thanks for us as well.
