Part-time Music Director
Arlington Street United Methodist Church is seeking a part-time Music Director to lead and coordinate music for Sunday worship and special services. This role reports to the Pastor, with dotted-line accountability to the Chair of the Staff Parish Relations Committee, and plays a central part in shaping the spiritual life of the congregation through music.
$150 per service - Approx. 4–6 hours per week
Schedule
• One weekday evening rehearsal (1 hour)
• Sunday rehearsal at 9:30 am
• Sunday worship at 10:00 am (60–75 minutes)
• Additional rehearsals and services during Advent, Christmas, Lent, Easter, and other special occasions
Key Responsibilities
• Select and prepare music for Sunday worship and seasonal services
• Collaborate with the Pastor and Worship Committee to align music with sermon themes and liturgical seasons
• Lead congregational singing and coordinate choir, soloists, and guest musicians
• Provide live or pre-recorded music as needed
• Ensure compliance with copyright and licensing requirements
• Foster a welcoming, spiritually grounded music ministry
Qualifications
• Experience as a church musician, music director, or worship leader preferred
• Proficiency in piano required; organ proficiency additionally preferred
• Strong vocal ability and confidence leading congregational singing
• Familiarity with both traditional and contemporary worship styles
• Ability to work independently and collaboratively
• Commitment to the mission and inclusive values of a United Methodist congregation
